Harmony Healing Sounds is a new business opening in Newport who focus on healing through sound and massage.

Louise Marie Holden has opened Harmony Healing Sounds in Newport with the partnership of her friend Sandy, the owner of Holistic Glow Massage, with the intention of giving people the care and attention they need, and healing them. She states, “If I can do anything to support someone’s healing journey, I would be honoured to do that for someone.”

Louise used to run a massage business in London, but moved to Wales a few years ago, where she met Sandy, who suggested working together the following year. Louise decided to try, and found herself opening Harmony Healing Sounds in Newport, alongside Sandy who will focus on massage, whilst Louise focuses on sound and healing through vibrations.

Their first session will be on the 14th of April, and will focus on clearing your chakras, the spiritual energy within your body, through Reiki healing. Louise says that the plan is to work through the chakras with the clients, guide them through some meditation, and take them on a journey to receive the healing vibrations, before having a cup of tea and talking about the experience afterwards.

She says that the message of the business, “It’s really important to make time for self-care because that’s what keeps you going.”

Louise went through her own healing journey following an extremely traumatic car crash when she was 16-years-old, which made her realise how much people needed to be supported through their trauma, and inspired her desire to help people through their own healing journeys.

After being awarded a degree in physiotherapy and business, and experiencing various therapies, she found the Buddhist practice to work best for her. She explains that a lot of trauma is held in the physical body and through courses with Buddhist centres she started to understand her own trauma and release it. Although she specialises in Buddhist therapy forms, she emphasises “I would never say this therapy is better than other therapies because it's so individual”.

She says that she has already held an individual sound bath ceremony for a client who had suffered a traumatic loss. The client said she found it cathartic and helped her release some of the emotions around the grief she had been holding onto.

She hopes to get a grant to start offering sessions in Brynmawr, alongside the Buddhist centre in the future, as she feels that the local community could benefit from her healing sounds.
